Building a Brand that Cuts Through the Noise – Key Takeaways
2nd February 2023
I attended a thought-provoking webinar last week hosted by Bristol Creative Industries! Guest host Joanna Xenofontos (who did you know – worked on the beloved Paddington Bear?) guided us in how to elevate our brand and stand out from the competition.
Since today’s market is fiercely competitive, establishing a unique and memorable brand is essential. I’ve put together my key takeaways from the Webinar:
Building a Brand through messaging:
- Keep messaging clear and simple – making it easy for consumers to understand.
- Moreover, a strong brand should be able to tell its story in one sentence.
- Social media content should be relatable and human – use a one-liner approach.
Building a Brand Identity:
- Essential elements of brand identity: a rememberable name, logo, colours and strapline.
- Being consistent with your branding but adaptable and flexible at the same time.
- Furthermore, effective branding involves less copy and more colours, typography and visuals.
- Sub-branding, as seen through Tesco branding (finest, standard and freeform), can target different audiences.
Brand Activation (the process of making your brand known):
- Branding is an ongoing process, and brand activation is what keeps it alive and current.
- Additionally, emotions should be evoked through brand activation, so use story-telling that relates to your brand’s strapline.
- Research current trends to connect with your audience.
Overall, during the webinar, Joanna explained the importance of having a clear and distinctive brand.
Therefore, the main takeaway to stand out in today’s market is to focus on three key things: messaging that’s easy to understand, a unique brand identity and a focus on the target audience!
Thanks, Joanna, for the insights!
